Writing this post as I am returning from Kingfisher Indiblogger meet at Kyra Theatre, Bangalore while traveling in a BMTC Volvo public transport instead of taking out my own vehicle. Since Kyra is pretty distant from my home, I chose to utilize the public transport on a lazy Sunday afternoon. This meet was sponsored by Kingfisher and Kyra Theater and Restaurant. You can read my earlier review on Kyra Theater here. Kingfisher was sponsoring free BEER to all the bloggers present at the venue, I had to satisfy myself with water since I am not even a social alcoholic! If you wish to read about the previous IndiBlogger meet in Bangalore here.
Well, coming to the event, there were around 100+ bloggers who made their presence felt with 30 seconds of fame to start the proceedings. During those 30 seconds, every blogger gets an opportunity to introduce themselves to rest of the blogging community present there. It was interesting to see and hear about all the bloggers. There were people who hail from different professions. Starting from engineering geeks and students, poets, a bunch of doctors, journalist students, photographers, Wikipedia evangelists, web designers and few professional bloggers! Oh yeah, there were few folks who had no blogs also, but were curious to learn from this event and start a blog soon. I was inspired by listening to some of the bloggers who have been blogging for over 7 years! It was even more interesting to listen to some of the folks on their story about choosing to blog – One person said he wanted to build a blog that could beat TechCrunch!! I do recall some web designer coming to the event and saying he has no clue on what the blogging is all about and looking forward to know better. There was another person saying that he was learning through the experiment of creating multiple blogs repeatedly and letting them die. Not sure why someone would want to do that repeatedly… My principle is not to commit the same mistake for the second time.
Not to mention, I met a number of people whom I knew through virtual world of internet. The list includes SR Ayyangar who has written a guest post on my blog about Traffic Management in Emergency. Vijay, Raj, Raghav, Meghana, Sowmya Suresh, Hitesh, Mohanish, Anand Bala, Saraswatan are a few to name who are familiar to me. The list is really exhaustive to recall and mention everyone… It was a good platform to meet up with so many folks from blogosphere. After the introduction round, every person was given a cardboard sheet that one can hang on their back to let the fellow bloggers to write on it with crayons. Sometime after personal interactions and writing on backs, it was time to count the number of comments each person got on his/her back! None of us knew that there would be special goodies for the highest comment count. I was lucky to stand second with 25 comments while Vijay had 27. We both got the white IndiBlogger T-Shirts! Thanks to all those who met me and commented on my back :)
The beer guzzlers continued to empty mug after mug throughout the session. There was a good discussion to help everyone become a good blogger as well as some of the common issues faced by blogging community. Copyright & Plagiarism was one helluva hot topic! Well utilized the opportunity of meeting up with the IndiBlogger team of Renie, Anoop, Karthik, Nafisa, Diana and many more. I will update the pics once I reach home. Look forward to meet you all and many more who missed this event sometime soon through this kind of blogger meets or whatever event works out. Feel free to reach out and stay connected through social media.

In the last IndiBloggers meet you said there were around 25 people but this time it is 100+!!! Is it the result of FREE BEER :)
Hehehe… Free BEER can do wonders! Having said that, it was great to meet so many bloggers under one roof.
Hi Shaunak,
I am ready to accompany you. Lets get together and organize a mega event. Much bigger than Bangalore.
That would be great… join hands and make it a big success!
Sounds great! Hope something like that comes Mumbai-side sometime soon! :)
Hey Shaunak, thanks for dropping by! Well, you can initiate the meet – see indiblogger site for more details on how you can host. I am sure Mumbai meet would be much bigger than what we had here in Bangalore!
