Recharging and subscribing for add-on packages on Sun Direct DTH has come through a long way. Since I bought Sun Direct almost an year back, for add on packages I have been using their phone service and it wasn’t so convenient. More over it was time consuming in addition to a kind of painful n traditional recharge process.
Now that Sun Direct has introduced mobile recharge and add on subscription services, it is fairly the best among the other existing DTH service providers in India.
Soon after recharging through their website, an OSD confirmation was on my TV in no time! I decided to test out their mobile platform too. Selected one of the package as add-on and sent a message in the appropriate format through my mobile. In next 30 seconds, I got the confirmation about the service activation. Within next 5 minutes, my subscription was accessible! Viola… great service. I am so glad that the human intervention has been isolated completely for recharge and add-on packages activation.
I still have a couple of concerns and hope Sun Direct listens to them and fixes these two as well.
1. Forgot password reset workflow needs to be re-visted and should be made simpler.
2. There should be a mechanism to de-activate an add-on package through online and mobile modes.
The quality of video and audio using MPEG-4 has certainly been good so far and I may try out Sun Direct’s HDTV services provided their prices come down to earth from sky. Currently HDTV prices are damn too high.. around 12K for the instrument and service to start with. It is not my cup of tea as of now :)

i am not getting all the channels they offered when i bought their service.
no radio channels, no important channels like ndtv profit, india vision , fashion tv, chirithira, times now, et now , bbc etc. what can i do? is this a problem with everyone? pl. comment.
i am a sundirect customer my subscriptions expirer on last week I reacharge 6th month paid ON 20th august BUT TODAY STILL THE PROBLEM IS ALL CHANNELS SCRAMBLED, ..?
Sundirect, Tatasky, Big TV and all the DTH providers in India are using ISRO’s satellite INSAT 4B. And there is a Power Glitch or a satellite drift on INSAT 4B. It may take some more days or weeks to resume to normalcy. One should not blame SUNDIRECT for this. Even if one switches to another DTH provider, all the same. Signals are weak or no signals. So let us not blame Sundirect for this. One has to be little patient hoping that the satellite transmission becomes normal.

I disagree. Not all providers use INSAT 4B satellite. I have started using Videocon DTH and I am able to view all channels without any problems. Wait for few weeks, months? how many months?
Videocon DTH is using Gilat Satellite owned by Israel. Sundirect, tatasky are using our own indigenous satellit INSAT launched by ISRO. We have to wait for a few months may be, if we are patriotic to our nation, rather than switching over to foreign satellites. isnt it? It is left to you. Anyhow we have to understand that itis not the fault of Sundirect and Tatasky DTH providers, it is the little problem temporarily faced by ISRO satellite which they are correcting it….. Thanks

Even God cannot save Sun DTH. People have lost faith in it. They should have anticipated such issues. That is professional business do. Running a DTH service is not like running a TV channel.

Got the below response through mail from Sun Direct Regarding the Top-Up Problems. No use recharging through SMS, you simply lose Rs.3. I am planning to buy Videocon DTH(Rs.1350 for Dish+Rs.300 for installation). Got info that if we pay Rs.275/Month, we get all the channels(Sports+Movies+Regional..etc). Anyone have more info about Picture and Audio quality of Videocon DTH? Mohan, please share more info if you have about Videocon DTH.

Due to technical problem in satellite we are unable to telecast all the channels . Technical persons will personally come & rectify this effect.
Charges will not be taken for the non viewed days.. Add-on will not be able to activate for the customers.So please wait for two days till the problem rectifies..…..Inconvenience regretted

i have rechaged my account with Rs.500. and now i want to activate the addon(Code:004) online. But when i see their site there is no activate button in addon tab. Can you suggest me the solution ? i have no mobile registed so cant send SMS as well.

I have recharged my sun tv a/c through rechargeitnow.com website. But still my a/c balance is not updated.
There is a depletion in my sbi a/c of 400 rs. but that amount is not transferred to my sun tv a/c yet.

Sun Direct has very easy method of recharging on line .while we have the recharge card
we can easily log on to customer login and giving our smart card No. we can add on our voucher .Instantly our a/c is updated the we go to activate our set .Its accepting our commands and the programme is activated! All is OK ! But the picture is not comming!
Again we have to call the C.C centre after a long wait or getting a reply of a recorded voice telling that the C.C No is incorrect. Some how when we reach the paid replier politely asking us wait for two hours! But other net works are not like that ,why dont they ie.the sun .could not do the activation as the net works of cellphones do when we activate following their instructions
or why dont we go for other net works that are user friendly?

Mohan, I have been using the online mode of recharging for a long time now. Usually the traffic increases on all modes like customer care phone lines, sms, online etc., when some event is just about to start – read it as some cricket tournament in my observation. So, it is wise to activate the required channel a couple of days in advance so that we don’t need to waste too much of time in waiting for things to work. Follow the path that is less taken and you will find better results at the end of the day!
Folks, all the T20 World cup matches where Indian team is involved are being telecasted on channel # 499 if you are using SunDirect free of cost. More over it is also freely available on DD National. So, i don’t see a point in going for ESPN/STAR on Sundirect unless you want to watch other countries matches as well.

I’ve recharged my account online and added all sports channels…. including ESPN & STAR Cricket for T20…
My Account was credited…. My add-ons are showing in my plan…..
Waiting for more than 2 hours…. I am not getting the Add-on channels on my TV…. How long will I have to wait??? perhaps won’t I get a chance to watch the match today?????
