Monorail or Light Rail Transit?

Soil testing has commenced for the coveted project to serve as a feeder service towards ‘Namma Metro’ and ‘High Speed Rail Link’ to Bengaluru International Air Port. This work is currently under the detailed project report (DPR) stage with the title being ‘Providing Monorail/MRTS/LRT from JP Nagar to Hebbal and from Toll-gate on Magadi road to Peripheral ring road’. Couple of weeks back I witnessed a mid road barricade being lined up to conduct the soil test near Kamakya bus depot. Here is the photo!

Similar soil testing machinery has been seen along the mentioned route in the recent past. Though this project is being taken up in public private partnership (PPP) mode, Bangalore Airport Rail Link Limited (BARL) is the authority monitoring the execution of this project and I hope this materializes in the right direction to bring traffic chaos in the city to a somewhat controlled state. All the project details can be tracked here, this site is being maintained by Infrastructure development department of Karnataka Government.
