In the early days people fought for independence because of slavery. Later on they fought for a similar independence because of religions/linguistics/communities. And now we have come very long way. Many are still striving for such variations in independence even after knowing that it has almost saturated. In fact this saturation has exceeded to an extent that the existing partitions/provinces cannot be divided further into any smaller pieces. It is also important to know that if we keep going with this divide and rule policy, there won’t be an end to this whole process and finally we might end up losing everything and every one around. Yes, I am referring to all those groups that have been trying to separate out the states/provinces/regions across geographies all over the world.
Now that I have confused you enough, let me give you the context too. It is almost a year since the heart of our Indian Business capital was attacked by a group of ruthless morons. Let me take a dig at these folks to think of why they are forced to behave that way. To start with I want everyone to believe that there are only two kinds of people who exist on our earth right now. To classify them, one kind is known as the ‘GOOD’ and other is the ‘BAD’. We need to address issues faced by the BAD people and educate them through right channels to change for GOOD. If you do a deep analysis, it is very clear that the root cause for all this evil is nothing but ‘poverty’. This poverty may be attributed to many things including few like lack of progressive environment, hygienic food, work, money, education, etc., I feel these are the predominant reasons behind human race to turn BAD. Having known the reasons, shouldn’t we focus on how to stop people turning to BAD?
Governments all over the world are spending trillions of $$$s to fight against the BAD in a wrong way. That too by choosing the much worse evil called ‘war’. Time and again knowing very well that war is not the proper way to find an amicable solution for any problem on this earth. May I propose all the super forces to get together and spend the same amount of money towards changing the BAD to GOOD? I am talking about the money that USA and rest of the countries around the world spending on weaponry, armed forces budgets and all that. By providing a good environment, food, education, work and money, I believe there is no chance of failure if the right people get together on this and act on the menace. The only one act that can do the magic is to get together and talk to the BAD. Educate and convince them by showing the beauty of how life is supposed to be.
Every responsible leader should understand that we can’t stop the BAD by quarreling and take a strong note from history that no one ever succeed by fighting against one another. As far as my views go, the only way is to act as mentioned above and spend all the money to get BAD to GOOD. Certainly, this mammoth achievement cannot be done by wasting money on protecting borders and by building modern weapons. We know for sure how good our bureaucracy and political system works. We spent a good INR 250cr to arrive at an inconclusive 86cr Bofors scam. Now the files relating to bulletproof jacket purchase have gone invisible, so are those jackets (supposed to be in judicial custody) to let the selfish filths to get an escape. All such acts just add on to the expenditure in budgets year on year. Future reckons a bright light for human kind provided the opportunity is taken up well in the right direction by solving right problems. Anyone listening?
Sunil says
yes, I do agree that poverty is the root cause of all this. But will the so called bad ppl turn into good if we fund them?
You mentioned “Governments all over the world are spending trillions of $$$s to fight against the BAD in a wrong way. That too by choosing the much worse evil called ‘war’ “….. Even those who are referred to as good ppl are at war which can be taken as bad. So its all in the game. Its like a rooster coop. But ultimately, a day will come when peace would be restored…lets hope that we live to see that day 🙂
Mohan says
Well pointed Sunil. Yes, we are forced to take a stance on relatively lesser evil. But we fail to understand that lesser evil is evil too! So is the case with those fighting out there. Thanks for your thoughts.
Swaram says
I think u struck gold with one point Mohan .. Poverty is one of the causes. I think religious hatred is def. a cause, but poverty makes ppl give in to anything and everything. How many stories have we heard about people doing such things as their families were promised money, shelter etc… These poor people are even taught that their wealth has been taken away by other religions .. that is where the hatred begins sometimes. Poverty does give rise to religious hatred here. So, it has to be tackled. I see light @ the end of the tunnel when this would be brought into action 🙂
Mohan says
Hope that day comes without much delay. Thanks for your views Swaram.
Tavish says
Very nice write up Mohan. The US gives billions of dollars of aid to fight terror, i guess instead if they use that money to fight poverty and un-employment it would serve the right purpose. Having said that its easier said than done. There are political issues involved. People have vested interests in keeping terror alive. For example in Kashmir, the government has spent more money than it has anywhere else in the country to improve the basic condition of the people, but still its on the boil, only because people have their vested interests in keeping it alive. Its a very complex issue and I think only time will solve this issue.
Mohan says
well summarized, but still it is only a part of the game.. there are bigger conspiracies beyond those vested interests.

Well, many of us have watched Rang De Basanti. Rang De Basanti is very truly depicts the current plight of why EVIL prevails above GOOD. The bunch of happy to go guys were enacting a play when sth terribly happens to their beloved, and then they are very much moved that they wanted to bring a change, and they chose voilence (EVIL) means to end it and the result is they are branded “thugs”. But did they achieve what they wanted to? BAD and GOOD is how you choose to be, they are just relative 🙂
Mohan says
I can’t agree more. Yes, it is relative but at the same time any kind of evil is BAD!
Gyanban says
Politics religion and money are the most combustible concoction in India.Throw is a dash of corruption, some ice cubes of candle lighting, shake it all up, serve it parda-faash tv culture – and we have the most potent cocktail which India is drinking and chooses to remain drunk since 1947.
Mohan says
Hi Gyanban, your satire is understandable. But they are the ones whom we have been choosing again n again. the awareness has to come from each of us.
Gyanban says
Correction – we are not ch0osing them – half of the junta never votes.
The ones who are forcefully brought in truck loads are the ones who are choosing them !
Reshma says
How true! half of us are so lazy to go out and vote. Hence the filths always have their way to get elected. Aren’t we promoting them indirectly by not voting?
Mohan says
That is reality.. and hence the birth for many things like Jagore.com etc.,
Mohan says
Sadly most of the well educated aren’t taking polls seriously.
Magali says
This is my first time here.
The post is deep & thought provoking. I like the anti-war message it sends.
I love your blog template too. And the favicon (WordPress logo upside down!)
I’m a little sad that there’s no ‘Google Friend Connect’
But overall a lovely blog.
Mohan says
Hi magali, welcome! Thanks, I am glad you liked the post. Well, I had that google friend connect sometime back, but it terribly slows down the blog performance and hence I have removed it. Anyways, i will be writing a different post on that altogether sometime soon 🙂 Look forward to see you often here!
kavita says
Having seen all this from very near i can share few things here……Mohan you are very right to some extent Poverty does play a big role here .Lack of food, poor living conditions, lack of education ,lack of trust towards the rulers or the government pushes many young vulnerable minds towards this black hole. But the real players are money and power mongers ….to survive they manipulate innocent minds who already have a negative spark against the state.HURT SENTIMENTS play a major role here…it is enough to drive a chemical engineer or a local goon or an innocent teenager or a scientist or a scholar to give up his life for what he thinks is for a CAUSE.
I have seen and known many such families and trust me many of them are very good people ……i have no clear answers to all this…i wonder if any answer exists.
Just yesterday my state was rocked twice…many died…insane.
Mohan says
The inspiration behind this post was all the happenings around kashmir/NE states as well as a separate state demand from the heart of Andhra pradesh. People want to separate out everything.. obviously the thought ignited by a bunch of selfish so called leaders. Then seem to be failing terribly in getting the bigger picture and larger problems. At the same time, I do understand there are few challenges in getting unbiased support from centre too.. All I wish is to see is a world without such man made mistakes that trigger boiling points in some other parts.
I saw that news, it is so depressing…
lostworld says
GOOD post 🙂 I don’t agree that poverty is the sole reason for terrorism. It acts as a catalyst but religious fanatism, extreme hatred, prejudices etc play a stronger role. Also lack of education is a major problem. This happens even if poverty is non-existent. Exercising one’s control through peaceful means is met with zero tolerance too. My thoughts these. A debatable topic I know.
Mohan says
GOOD girl… it all boils down to everything including education, poverty, hatred, religion and what not! It is indeed an intense topic to debate for a long… but all we need is an end to the evil 🙁
Seema Syed says
I forgot to mention in my previous comment, there are very many BAD RICH people on the earth, than to BAD POOR people. Not only with the people, it is the same with the nations.
Mohan says
True.. the ego to be the strongest and most influentially powerful status entices nations to envy and start fighting it out… sadly, that fight taking this turn is insane!
Seema Syed says
I agree that poverty is to some extent the cause for some kind or the distress across the Globe, truly speaking Poverty itself is a menace. But it indeed is not the main cause. People’s mentality too plays a greater role. Every individual is born with some kind of “EVIL” in him, but many suppress it and neither know about it, but some let it evident and this very evilness of some will bring distress to others. And the sufferers or victims of somebody else evilness try themselves not to bring their evilness out in revenge, but some do suppress it and some dont. It’s just a chain or may not be. Therefore individuals need to change. I am GOOD and I will not be BAD. BAD is BAD and GOOD is very GOOD. But how do we know what is GOOD and what is BAD. In the past people chose religions. Now not many believe in religions but more in riches. But what are riches? Riches are ones own desires. If any individual curb their desires and live a self-satisfied life then there is always happiness, if not BAD prevails. I know many POOR living a happy life with what they have than to many RICH who have everything but not happiness. RICH-POOR is not truly the cause, but human mentality itself.
Mohan says
Very well related. Yes, it is indeed a kind of chain where one leads to another while something else takes over from there on. Before you get confused between the poor and BAD. There is a very clear distinction between the two. The very fact that most of the evil happening from BAD seem to come from poor. Rest all very valid in my view too 🙂
Antarman says
I agree, but today as the newspapers say the face of terrorism is changing, terrorist are not some misguided poor youth, but rich educated people…but one thing is sure..govt must bring development to all the states and education too and it can change a lot of things.
Mohan says
That is very true. The so called well educated are turning to evil because of the brainwash in the name of religion and culture. I am not trying to blame anyone here, but most of the direct evil happens from the uneducated & poor youth/kids. If we look at our neighborhood country, we get a fair idea on what I am talking about.
kavita says
Mohan…this post needs a serious reading ,i will be back at a later time…looks very very interesting to me.SEE you.
Mohan says
I know it is a bit touchy subject. Take your time, I know you will have a lot to speak on this since you know the North Eastern India better here!
shraddha says
i agree at most levels but not about poverty.
The religious hate affects the rich too.
In fact the rich with this hatred are the root cause in my perception.
Mohan says
That is true shraddha. Religion plays an important role. Not most but all religions say one thing to help each other to make a better living, but the way some disciples interpret things makes a religion complicated and starts spreading that hate.
Roshmi Sinha says
A good read. But I have a different take on this… will write a post on it soon… and then maybe we could discuss.
btw… what do you think is the shortest way of stopping acts of terrorism (bomb blasts, killings, suicide attacks, et al)… ???
P.S. Bofors was 64 cr. Have you ever wondered why the other scams like the ‘chara ghotala’… or ‘fodder scam’ (which was well over 5000 cr) never make it to the foreign shores… ??? Why did any of them not receive the ‘Swiss medal of Honour’… ???
How many cases have gone to the foreign shores and therefore received the Swiss Medal of Honour… ??? From this country/subcontinent/3rd world… ??? What are your thoughts on it… ???
The foreign media is notorious for getting under the skin of ‘inconvenient’ politicians/leaders… belonging to the ‘3rd world’. Why do they not do any write-ups or op-ed pieces on the Guantanamo Bay, the tragedy/human tragedy of the Gulf War/ Iraq War/Afganistan/Africa… ??? Or on the oil-grabbing policy of the sole super power… ??? Europe (barring a few cases in the Eastern Block – the erstwhile Soviet/Communist block) and the US seems to be inhabited by people who are ‘saintly’ and ‘doodh se dhule huye’… what kind of DNA are they made of… ??? Why do the American/NATO forces drop bombs on the hotels where investigative journalists stay… in Iraq… ???
Also, the Bofors Gun was not a substandard gun. It played a big role in scripting the Kargil victory.
Mohan says
I have the same set questions as that of yours. This is the very fact that I don’t like to write much on politics here. I am not denying the fact that bofors was very instrumental, but the scam around it makes it worse. Politicizing and gaining out of it has become a kind of way for many of our leaders. Waiting for the day when they truly start thinking about nation and the people in it.
Talking about other countries, yes there are flaws out there too. But what are we trying to achieve by retaliating? Does that anyways lead to a peaceful solution? Everyone should start thinking as if we all belong to one family that is the human kind on this earth.
shruti says
so many people, so much money…..Peace is all we want!!!
Mohan says
How true… unfortunately, there are many out there who want it the other way 🙁
Sush says
Hi Mohan, Its indeed a co-incidence that we both wrote about this topic today. As far as what you are suggesting is concerned I don’t think poverty is the real issue. The real issue is education. If we focus our energies on this, firstly our population will come under some control as people will learn that having so many kids is bad for the country. Secondly, when a woman gets educated the entire family gets educated. Thats a fact. Thirdly, because of good education people can get jobs and eventually poverty can be eradicated. I know it’ll take minimum a generation for this to happen but it will happen for sure. Along with education we need to continue with NREGA programs and other poverty alleviation schemes, which have some use but only to a limited extent.
Mohan says
Hi Sush! welcome to my blog 🙂 Yes, may be we are all thinking on the same lines since the first anniversary is just a couple of days away for 26/11. I like to differ a bit with your thoughts. It is the poverty that is denying good education. Now that most of the education institutions have become profit making orgs, nobody seem to care for child education except few government funded projects.
I agree to your point to a certain degree, but when we take a deep dig, it is a sort of chicken and egg problem.
Nice inputs.. Thanks for your thoughts.
Sneha says
Nice thoughts mohan. You have penned it to the root cause. But do you think the religions and customs that each person accustomed to will let those people to get into liberal modern world breaking all those primitively taught principles? Ice breaking session would be the toughest challenge here.
Mohan says
Hi Sneha, thanks! Nice to see you back here again 🙂
That is certainly a touch task to get over. As long as people don’t realize they all come from one human kind, these things will be hurdles for sure. Agree with you on the icebreaker to get everyone on to the table to initiate any kind of progressive dialogue. Having said that, it isn’t impossible for sure.
