Attended one more indiblogger meet today in Bangalore. This was the 3rd such meet for me in Bangalore, but personally this was the 4th one. Yes, I had attended independence day bloggers meet in Mumbai earlier this year. Though I had missed the initial 2 meets before I joined the indiblogger community, I have been regular to these meets since my first meet. From there onwards crowd has been getting bigger and so are the venues. The current meet had 200+ bloggers under one roof today and bigger than the previous one at Kyra!
Got to meet many familiar faces and too many not so familiar ones! As always a wide range of bloggers from students to retired bankers, journalists to IT official [Yes, INCOME TAX guy!!], engineers to entrepreneurs and the list goes on… but a wast majority of the bloggers were from info tech industry. Oh yeah, many were self proclaimed ‘geeks’! The event started with a customary funny introduction of indiblogger core team members and then moved on to 30 seconds of fame into’s by rest of the bloggers. The event sponsor HP was on printers give away spree! Some catchy intros were awarded printers! Who don’t like to get goodies like that? During this meet, HP revealed its new technology called HPePrint. This new platform is cloud-based and lets users print via e-mail directly from an iPhone, iPad, or other mobile device. There was an interesting presentation on this platform as well and how HP is shaping up itself for the new generation demands. Good luck HP!
As planned earlier, I did give away about 5 Aloe vera saplings to some of the bloggers who were interested in gardening. I learnt something new today… The more you decide to give away, that much more you start getting back 🙂 To cut it short, I won the HP Print4Life contest and carried home an HP Photosmart Wireless e-All-in-One Printer B110a. The contest was very simple, just capture a photo that reflects the life in Bangalore en-route to indimeet and send an entry for the contest. The coolest 3 such clicks win and I was one of those three! See my entry below. More on the printer performance and a detailed review soon on this blog!
There is a bit of story behind this pic as well. I chose to reach the venue by public transport and was waiting at the bus stop. That is when I saw this boy with a trumpet and a bull passing by. He looked at me if I would give him some money. Asked him how much he wants and got a demand sign of Rs 5/- Since that guy looked some what dull, I handed him a little beyond what he wanted and asked him if I could click a photo of him with the bull. He was all smiles and started to pose! I took out my digicam from the stylish Yahoo! Bag and clicked a photo. So, my investment was just Rs 10/- for this photo and got back home with a printer worth thousands! You never know where your investment will take you!
Some of the topics that caught my attention include blogging for social causes, collaborating with pollution control board, civil defense and organic kitchen gardening. Another notable mention is for the blogger who was planning to have a dedicated blog for SANSKRIT language and its literature! It is always a great feel to know & meet so many bloggers and learn something new from everyone! When you get to see some of the bloggers who are as young as 14 years, it is indeed an inspiration for many of us to take the blogging to next level in India. Also, there was a journalist from Deccan Herald news paper who interviewed me. Watch out for yet another media appearance in one of the predominant news paper of Karnataka 🙂 Until the next meet, will keep these memories. If I couldn’t connect with any of you, feel free to leave your comment here and we can connect now for sure!
