I am happy to announce that I have joined BITS pilani to pursue my higher studies. Starting this 19th, my weekends would be productively invested towards achieving my postgraduatation. I have been approved to take admission into MS programme in Software Engineering from this premiere institute.
The duration of this course is 2 years (4 semesters) and it is being offered in collaboration with my employer Yahoo!. This is one more benefit that yahoo is offering to its employees starting this year. I am preveliged to be in the very first batch of such a collaborative program. Classes will be conducted in the office premises during weekends. It may be a bit difficult to manage work, studies and personal life. Thanks to my family members who have pledged support to realize my dream of getting masters from a renowed institution. Wish me all the best 🙂

Now when i start thinking of carreer it looks dreadful in choosing the Industry even.
I am taking this course purely for stabilising my carrer more than Passion for the course

How does Product Based industry looks at this course . when i have plans of shifting to Product based Company how well they look at this course?

When it comes to the course selection in collaboration, BITS does work out with the companies. Even then, it takes cares of striking a fine balance to ensure there is not much difference targeted specific to product or service companies.

Swati/Vinay, for us it was a must to get a CGPA of 5.5/10 or more for the first three semesters. Only criteria is one shouldn’t get an ‘E’ grade in any of the subjects. Even if your score is in D, it is fine as long as you maintain a CGPA of 5.5 and above.

1) I am currently working for Hitachi Data systems and have an experience of almost 2 years. My company has no tie up with BITS PILANI. Can I still pursue MS from it??
2) What is the admission procedure. I have secured above 8 in all my semesters as well as in ICSE and ISC. Can I be sure of admission or is there any elimination test/interview etc.
3) How does MS help in growing my career? How many industries recognize it in INDIA and abroad?
4) How does MS form BITS compares to MS form US?? What are the drawbacks and advantages of doing it from Pilani?
I know there are too many questions but I will be very thankful to you if you could answer them in your spare time.

1. Well, this course will help you to get a deeper knowledge of software systems compared to your bachelors. Masters degree would always be an add on to your career both financially and technically! Yes, I don’t think there exists placement assistance for DLP programs as well as the course isn’t AICTE approved.

Hi Ankita,
1. Well, there are specific guidelines provided by BITS for choosing a mentor. If you don’t get in your company, you can always choose someone else i suppose. Please see through the guidelines for better clarity on this.
2. Since I am on collaboration mode with my employer for MS, we do have weekend classes. Not sure if such classes are conducted for individuals who apply directly with BITS DLP. Your city BITS co-ordinator should be able to provide more details on this.
3. I don’t think it is too tough to get in. All it needs is a good academic background.
