“. . . on April 22, 1970, Earth Day was held, one of the most
remarkable happenings in the history of democracy. . . ”
– American Heritage Magazine, October 1993
Good to see such lines on a renowned maganizes and news papers. The thought that comes to many of our minds is about the significance of this very special ‘EARTH DAY’. As the quote says, it was initiated long back on April 22nd of 1970 by American senator Gaylord Nelson, Founder of Earth Day. However, Earth Day implies that a change in our attitude and actions will lead to a better future for our planet.
Now, lets talk about the reality. A great cause behind this day being celebrated has not reached the common man yet. Take a look at the two images shown here… It is such a big tree and I felt so sad that it is being cut into pieces. This tree is on the parallel road to that of my home. A tree is rested in peace while the mankind is getting closer to get rested in peace as well. Its not the story of just this tree, but it is happening all over the world. Thousands of trees are felled every day. The day is not too far if we don’t act NOW. I used to think Global warming will have its ill-effects some time down the line, may be after 50 years from now. But, Bangaloreans have already experienced unusual rains in the month of March this year. Average temperature has been ever increasing. We all individually take the responsibility to protect our planet.
As usual, to promote the awareness and to realize the importance, here is a yahoo! video for you all.

Hi Mohan.
I appreciate your love for nature. I think we all should join hands to educate the masses area wise and teach them how to reuse and recycle things. “Manassaiddare Marga”. What do you say.
