iNove theme looks great with WordPress 2.7. Recently I changed my blog to this theme and customization was way too easy and simple. While changing the theme, I also integrated my blog with Flickr photos. You can see that page here. I have been getting a number of mail enquiries on how to set it up. Hence I am writing this post to help all those who are planning to integrate flickr photos with iNove.
With my old theme, FAlbum plugin was of great help but that doesn’t seem to work after wordpress 2.5+. I really liked the options with FAlbum. Since that is not working anymore, I am using Flickr Photo Album plugin by Joe Tan. Follow these simple steps to get flickr photos on your wordpress blog:
1. Download the Flickr Photo Album plugin.
2. Locate the following file in your local directory ..\tantan-flickr\templates\photoalbum-index.php
In this php file edit the following line of code from
`<div id=”content” class=”narrowcolumn”>`
to
`<div id=”main” class=”narrowcolumn”>`
3. Save the file.
4. Upload tantan-flickr folder to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory
5. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress
6. Configure the plugin in the ‘Options’ (or ‘Settings’) screen by following the onscreen prompts
This should help you to show up your flickr photos on WordPress blog. Incase if you are still not able to get it working, you should create a static page with the name ‘Photos’ with page parent set to ‘main’ page and page template set to ‘default template’. Even after that if you are unable to get this going, share your questions here I shall try to answer them.
Update : Some of you might have faced mis-alignment issues with IE6. Follow the steps mentioned below only if required.
Step # 1. In the style.css of iNove theme, copy the below mentioned code and paste right after #main ending.
#flickrmain {
background:#FFF;
width:590px;
padding:5px 15px 10px;
float:left;
}
Step # 2. Save style.css
Step # 3. Edit ..\tantan-flickr\templates\photoalbum-index.php file to change the div name to ‘flickrmain’ instead of previously set ‘main’ – this was originally described in this post.
Thats it. You should be all set to see photos on Internet Explorer 6 (IE6) as well without any mis-alignment. 🙂

Hi!
i have a problem with this… i cant view my galleries and i dont know why… =(

Wow, Nice solution! 😀 I got it working now also!
I have only one suggestion, maybe you can help me find a solution. When clicking on the next photo thumbnail in navigation. The next photo is loaded but the page scrolls back to top (because the refresh). Since I have a big header, people need to scroll down each time they click next or previous. There should be some kind of way putting an anchor # tag in de picture so the alignment is everytime the same when clicking.

Thanks for pointing me to that. The code change for that is very simple and I have made the changes now. 🙂

iNove comments r by default dofollow. Its a bit odd.
If it were nofollow like others it would hav been the best theme.

Hi Mohan,
Thanks for posting this up! I was going to get my hands messy with manually looking for the parameter to change… but I found this, which helped a lot!
Happy Holidays,

Hi Mohan,
I’m not using IE, I love Firefox, but checking my statistics most of the visitors use IE6, that’s why its a problem.
Merry Christmas!
Larry Holmes says
Mohan, you’re right. That worked. I am most appreciative.

@Larry Holmes
Thanks for the link. I found out the issue with your site. Please comment out the following line of code from page.php theme file.
< span class="date" >< ?php the_modified_time(__('F jS, Y', 'inove')); ? >< /span >
Initially, I had mentioned the same too, but due to certain constrains, the ‘span’ tag was not showing up in my previous comment. To make it display here, I have included additional spaces. This will certainly fix your issue 🙂 All the best.

Thank you, Mohan. Here’s the link.

Sorry but I don’t use IE 😉 It has been a long time since I started using Mozilla FireFox and have lost my association with IE 🙂
DaRoiT says
Hi Mohan, I just realized that we have the same problem. The photo page doesn’t works well on IE6, on Firefox it’s perfect .If you have the chance to try it you will see that, yours as well as mine, the right sidebar goes to the bottom of the page.
Cheers!

That should ideally remove the calendar as well. Can you post the address of your blog so that i can take a look at it and help you further?
Thanks for the compliments!
Larry Holmes says
Thank you, Mohan. That got rid of the date, which is the main thing. Now that the date is gone, do you know how I can get rid of the little calendar graphic on pages?
Your blog is excellent.
Mohan says
@telsiz
You should be thanking mg12 who is the author of the theme.
@Larry Holmes
It is very simple. This is all you need to do.
Look for the following line of code in 3 theme files namely – page.php, archives.php and links.php
Comment out the above line. That should solve your issue. Let me know if you still need help.

With the Inove theme, how did you get rid of the calendar on pages?
