Google has become a synonym for ‘web search’. Undoubtedly, Google does provide an exhaustive search results for any term you may want to look up for. While doing a search on google to do my first ever ‘ScreenCast‘, I was looking for ‘how to create screencast on mac’. The funny search assist queries popped on my screen as I started keying in the search query. I couldn’t resist from exploring more on what the ‘how’ query assist suggestions come up for various geographical locations. Here is a glimpse of those…
This one is for India – google.co.in
The same ‘how’ suggests as below for US – google.com
Now let me show you what I got for UK – google.co.uk
One thing I can conclude from my experiment, there seem to be a common set of problems that are bothering the human kind across globe! Do a variation of this experiment for more terms like ‘where’, ‘why’, etc., and I am sure, it amuses every time you search for something!

Its always fun to search using different search engines. Now I thinking to post my experience on various search engines, well including “Yahoo” also π
Mohan says
Good one again! Well, yahoo search would be history soon… experiment on Bing instead π
Sriharsha says
What does internal stats say about Yahoo ?
Mohan says
Sorry, I didn’t get your question right. Would you mind making it more detailed? btw.. take a look at my new article on Youngistaan ka wow π
Sriharsha says
ha ha funny, I faced many of same kind. And now I’m fed up to save them π
My findings…….
You might not even expect what I got as a search result !!!!
This happened while I was searching in front of Yahoo developers in Hack U competition conducted by Yahoo. They were so happy and asked me to blog this immediately :P:P:P

I won’t say this is fault of Google totally, but they should have maintenance guys at least…

Mohan says
hahaha…. good one! well, there is always a loophole no matter how well you take control of the situation… Google is no exception here π
Ketan says
Lol….Surprised to see “How to get pregnant” on google.co.in
Mohan says
Reality bites!!!
Chethan says
By The way, How to Impress a girl??
Mohan says
Oh.. I thought the big ‘G’ just helped you to find an answer for that. Didn’t they?
lostworld says
I’ve noticed this too Mohan. Quite hilarious. Goes to show there’s common concerns/doubts across continents. Once I was checking ‘how to take care of plants’ (or smthing on similar lines) when all the above popped up. My mom was peeping in & I typed sooo fast. Hehehehe π
Mohan says
hahaha… I wonder what your mom might have thought if she had seen those search suggestions π
Shiva Chettri says
Awesome…and lol…this does really shows what people search for in each region of the world. Innovative observation bro π
Mohan says
Talk about the ‘Real world problems’!!! Thank you π
Swaram says
LOL .. things ppl look for π
Mohan says
That is a very good indicator to say that most of the people don’t study science… especially ‘Biology’ π Also, it could be that they don’t have a much reliable person in their life than to seek help from big ‘G’.
Sachin says
Check for keyword “removing” on Google India search.
And then see results from other google domains
Does this resembles what most indians searches π
Mohan says
hmmm i can’t speak on behalf of 1 billion population π No comments!
Geetha says
When I went with ‘How’ it was the same US version you got…With ‘When,’ I got one that made me sit up…It said, “When will I die” Huh…!!!! With “Where,” I got an option to find “Where is santa now”…To “what,” I get “What is love” and “What to expect when you are expecting”…Oh well…!!!! π
Mohan says
hahahaha… The more we experiment, more funnier it gets!
Sneha says
Really funny. I feel Bing is doing better on screening and showing only appropriate search suggestions. May be an area of opportunity for google.
Mohan says
Hehehe! I haven’t experimented much with Bing yet, let me explore π
Geetha says
LOL…That was some awesome observation, Mohan…Holiday well spent yeh?:)
Mohan says
Oh yeah… Thanks! How did it go for you?
naveen says
haha looks some what funny
i typed several times but i never read those

Mohan says
hmmm… may be your browser doesn’t support js/ajax calls. Try resetting cache, you might get to see the search assist results.
Hitesh says
hahaahhaaa…..nice…..
seems HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER is a big hit on internet searches too……it one of my fav shows running now……….as good as FRIENDS…….
i saw somethng like this on other blog too where the search results were for INDIAN and AMERICAN
Mohan says
Yeah, even I have heard about it all over but never got a chance to view one episode so far. Regarding that Indian and American stuff, I am sure that would be even more embarrassing to share on public forum!
Krishna Chaitanya says
Ah, a screencast. Would this be in reference to your blog or profession?
Mohan says
I was intending to use it for my blog. Had a couple of technical stuff in mind to share with my readers… it has been pending for a long time now!
Krishna Chaitanya says
Nice! I was trying to turn my blog into a vlog but couldn’t find enough time to research how to do it. May be your screencasts will help me.
Mohan says
Krishna, vlog is different from screencast. vlog is more to do with a person posing for the camera and talking out his mind instead of conventional texting for a blog. On the other hand, screencast is a way to capture the things that you do on your computer screen and make a video to share the information. Most of the times the creator of screencast wouldn’t be shown in such videos.
Parth J Dave says
Yeah.. LOL! This is indeed amusing.
At the same time, these search suggestions also reflect the problems and the curiosity of the people. Some things which cannot be discussed with anyone, are googled…what else can they even do?
Anyway, awesome observation… Keep it up, Mohan! π
Mohan says
your comment was really fast! it came in at no time after me publishing this article! Well, that is probably one reason why google has become such a popular destination π
