Writing this post as I am returning from Kingfisher Indiblogger meet at Kyra Theatre, Bangalore while traveling in a BMTC Volvo public transport instead of taking out my own vehicle. Since Kyra is pretty distant from my home, I chose to utilize the public transport on a lazy Sunday afternoon. This meet was sponsored by Kingfisher and Kyra Theater and Restaurant. You can read my earlier review on Kyra Theater here. Kingfisher was sponsoring free BEER to all the bloggers present at the venue, I had to satisfy myself with water since I am not even a social alcoholic! If you wish to read about the previous IndiBlogger meet in Bangalore here.
Well, coming to the event, there were around 100+ bloggers who made their presence felt with 30 seconds of fame to start the proceedings. During those 30 seconds, every blogger gets an opportunity to introduce themselves to rest of the blogging community present there. It was interesting to see and hear about all the bloggers. There were people who hail from different professions. Starting from engineering geeks and students, poets, a bunch of doctors, journalist students, photographers, Wikipedia evangelists, web designers and few professional bloggers! Oh yeah, there were few folks who had no blogs also, but were curious to learn from this event and start a blog soon. I was inspired by listening to some of the bloggers who have been blogging for over 7 years! It was even more interesting to listen to some of the folks on their story about choosing to blog – One person said he wanted to build a blog that could beat TechCrunch!! I do recall some web designer coming to the event and saying he has no clue on what the blogging is all about and looking forward to know better. There was another person saying that he was learning through the experiment of creating multiple blogs repeatedly and letting them die. Not sure why someone would want to do that repeatedly… My principle is not to commit the same mistake for the second time.
Not to mention, I met a number of people whom I knew through virtual world of internet. The list includes SR Ayyangar who has written a guest post on my blog about Traffic Management in Emergency. Vijay, Raj, Raghav, Meghana, Sowmya Suresh, Hitesh, Mohanish, Anand Bala, Saraswatan are a few to name who are familiar to me. The list is really exhaustive to recall and mention everyone… It was a good platform to meet up with so many folks from blogosphere. After the introduction round, every person was given a cardboard sheet that one can hang on their back to let the fellow bloggers to write on it with crayons. Sometime after personal interactions and writing on backs, it was time to count the number of comments each person got on his/her back! None of us knew that there would be special goodies for the highest comment count. I was lucky to stand second with 25 comments while Vijay had 27. We both got the white IndiBlogger T-Shirts! Thanks to all those who met me and commented on my back 🙂
The beer guzzlers continued to empty mug after mug throughout the session. There was a good discussion to help everyone become a good blogger as well as some of the common issues faced by blogging community. Copyright & Plagiarism was one helluva hot topic! Well utilized the opportunity of meeting up with the IndiBlogger team of Renie, Anoop, Karthik, Nafisa, Diana and many more. I will update the pics once I reach home. Look forward to meet you all and many more who missed this event sometime soon through this kind of blogger meets or whatever event works out. Feel free to reach out and stay connected through social media.
Well picturized event. Really lived it by reading.
Looking forward to coming events.

Hello! pleasure is all mine 🙂 It is on the cards and you will get to see that sometime soon! Don’t be so serious… take it easy. Damn.. I shouldn’t have spoken about it.
In the last IndiBloggers meet you said there were around 25 people but this time it is 100+!!! Is it the result of FREE BEER 🙂
Hehehe… Free BEER can do wonders! Having said that, it was great to meet so many bloggers under one roof.

I am ready to accompany you. Lets get together and organize a mega event. Much bigger than Bangalore.
That would be great… join hands and make it a big success!
Sounds great! Hope something like that comes Mumbai-side sometime soon! 🙂
Hey Shaunak, thanks for dropping by! Well, you can initiate the meet – see indiblogger site for more details on how you can host. I am sure Mumbai meet would be much bigger than what we had here in Bangalore!

I got to know first-hand about blogging activities in India. Gr8 meet.
Thought I’ll express some thoughts about monetization (not enough time yesterday!) –
Blogs (and the internet) offer an opportunity for the value creator to “directly” connect to interested people. It’s similar to the days when there where no merchants (middle-men). Value created is typically exchanged/payed-for; it so happens that the current mechanism is Ad revenue. It would be great if the medium was something else other than currency, but for now, this is the way it is. This line of reasoning was inspired by “Life Inc by Douglas Rushkoff”.
– @naveen_jp, @naveen_ookull
Nice to have met you there Naveen! good to hear about your thoughts on blogs and the monetization aspects.
Nice Article Sirjeee… I’ve posted some more pics and videos in my blog, if guys interested to see them, please do visit 🙂 Not very old timer in indiblogger, so any promotion of my blog would be helpful for me. ( Grin :)))) )
Dude.. i have already promoted your post! You got to be regular to know fellow bloggers better dude. Take sometime off from twitter 🙂
Your photos and videos gives a complete picture of the meet. Congrats.
These meet are a good platform to meet virtual friends….

People have been waiting for me to leave Bangalore to have all fun… Sigh! I would not the touch the beer either but would have enjoyed meeting you people. I would have asked you in advance to bring one of those Brinjal from your garden.
Congrats for winning the T-shirt.
Oh Farila, Beer is just a motivation for some of the bloggers if not for us 🙂
Hmmm thank god… you just limited yourself to ‘ONE’ brinjal and not all like others!
It’s sad that I couldn’t make it to the meet. Reading whatever you have read I can decipher that it was an enjoyable event. I’ll definitely make it to the next event.
Don’t worry, we will have another one soon and look forward to meet you there!

I missed it again! Free Beer? I surely missed it big time. Nice recap of the whole event. I did see that hitler video on indiblogger site.. No mention of that in your article? You missed it or purposefully avoided?
Hmmm look forward to meet you in next event without miss 😉
Oh, since that Hitler video was all over, I thought of just skipping it.
Anand Bala says
Very well summed up. I likes the attention to detail.
I do hope I can get a hold of you sometime from migrating to WordPress.
While there was no minute of silence for the “missing” blogger. One person, did guzzle an extra mug in his name.
Thanks Anand. Sure, Just give a couple of days advance notice and I shall get things moving in your way 🙂
Great to meet you Mohan.! Good that, we could get some nice comments on our ‘back’ while the discussion was on. Good thought.
Yeah, even I liked that concept of meeting fellow bloggers and getting comes on the back! Nice to have met you again 🙂
It was a great experience to meet bloggers like you.
Keep rocking the blogosphere. Cheers !
Same here Abhi.. welcome to my blog by the way 🙂
Was there a moment of silence for the poor blogger who couldn’t make it ?
was there someone who poured one glass of beer for the one poor blogger who couldn’t make it ?
I guess not. Sad.
Gyanban, there is always a next time! lets hope to meet soon 🙂
Anand took care of having an empty seat next to him reserved for you along with the beer, finally ended up gulping it all himself I suppose 😉
Kavitha Lokesh says
