Weather in Bangalore has changed overnight with the first downpour of the season! It was such a pleasing sight all over this morning en-route to office. Wish I had bought my camera along to click away few pics of the excellent weather. Nevertheless, I remembered a couple of clicks dating back to three years. Here it is for you all!
No prizes for guessing… It is the KR Puram Bridge as seen on an early morning of a mid summer season.
During my recent travel near that bridge last week, I observed an electronic message board giving indication about a disruption in traffic on Mysore Road which is on the other extreme of the city and suggested to take alternate ways. I was stumped by the pro-activeness of the traffic cops act! Good going Bangalore Traffic Police.
DR.Sreedhav says
I used to visit Bangalore between the years 1995-2005 and that too in winter to visit UG Krishnamurti. The trees and the greenery on both sides of the roads were a sight for sore eyes! I am saddened that most of those trees are gone. During my visits,as the years progressed the temp. has steadily risen, thanks to all the A/C cars, bikes and autos, not to forget the rash of new apartment buildings. I’ve been there to visit my cousin (in 2010) who stays in an upmarket flat in Malleswaram and there were ACs in all the bedrooms! Remember those days when even ceiling fans were not sanctioned for Govt. offices?

G8 work done by mohan.. and I appreciate, he replies all comments.. π

With introduction of new gadgets in today’s digital world, the traffic police all across india is improving! These days you can even subscribe to traffic alerts and receive traffic updates on SMS.
Thew views of the bridge in both the shots are fantastic π
Purba says
In India we are so lacking in imagination when it comes to naming our streets and colonies. We have a RK Puram in Delhi, nearly every city will have an MG Road. All Hill stations will have a mall road. I think we need to suggest interesting names like “Patlee gaalee” “Uphill Road” “Choc a block street”
Ahh the Delhi weather is making me cranky.
Mohan says
Purba, KR in KR Puram of bangalore stands for Krishna Raja π Heavy downpour for a day should be a good relief from the summer heat!
rekha says
Ooh, i enjoyed the sudden change in the weather too. Hopeflly we will see more of this..sigh!
Mohan says
Everybody wants such weather for sure!
Farida says

jayant bhat says
well it reminds of my 3 yr stay in Bangalore. Pleasant weather, great evenings, cool colleges, bad traffic and i must admit, not so friendly neighbours towards people who have migrated from other states. Well Aamchi Mumbai is always welcome with warm people, extremely warm climate with stinking sweat, not so great but better controlled traffic. But Aamchi Mumbai is one place which no person in the country can afford to miss. It touches a lot, how to live in liason, how to survive in extreme conditions.
But Bottome Line: Bangalore Days were the best days that our family has spent till now.
“Namma Bengalooru Yavagale hinge ira bekaadare, Yellaragu pollution kadame madlike sahaaya maad beku, gida jaasti grow maad beku, public transport bhaala use maad beku”. Learnt some kannada during my Bengalooru stay…enjoyed remembering the same.
Mohan says
Nice to read some of your good learning of kannada to an extent! I have always felt Bangalore to be very friendly and lively place. Unlike in other cities, here the autowalas try to speak to you in your language than abiding to their own language. That shows how good the neighborhood is in Bangalore!

Hi Mohan,
Good post.
“I was stumped by the pro-activeness of the traffic cops act! Good going Bangalore Traffic Police”
I dont think so…if u get a chance observe or try to cross the road @ Okalipur traffic signal(near to railway station backgate) oh! god…Even though the Zeebra crossing signal is ON Drivers or riders will not stop.No traffic police there to help to pedestrians. It is very very difficult to Kids and oldage people to cross the road.
Thanks
CG
Mohan says
Hi Chandru, thanks and welcome to this blog!
Sorry to hear that bad experience from you. Have you tried to complain about the same to the concerned authorities? If not, please do kick off the effort of at least notifying them. I am sure, this simple act will go a long way.
Chandru says
Thanks Mohan, Will do that !!!!
Mohan says
sure! look forward to hear your success story.

hitesh says
nice clicks……….
the weather like this is one of high points in Bengaluru……….just love it here………
Mohan says
Thanks! Well, this is how Bengaluru used to be a decade back most of the time throughout the year… But nowadays, summers are becoming unbearable!
hitesh says
exactly……many people from my office told me the same…………i hope it gets better……
Mohan says
It can only get better if we reinstalled all those big trees that have been culled down in the name of infrastructure and road expansions.
hitesh says
yea…..they cut down all of them in from of my office…….in Basvangudi cause they are making some underpass here……………
KR park, from this side….looks terrible.
Mohan says
Yeah, true. I saw that area last week and I feel sorry for all those trees.
Aparna says
Couldn’t agree more on the sudden change in weather! So awesome to take a long drive… (especially on the KR Puram bridge on to NH 4, or Hosur Road, even!) Wish it was weekend! π
Mohan says
For a change.. drive on a bike would be more fun π Why weekend? take a couple of hours early in the day or late in the evening… Worth enjoying π
Aparna says
Yes, bike ride is exactly what I had in mind… No early exits…. work at its awful best right now!!! :O
Mohan says
Oh dear! Bad timing I suppose… Weekend isn’t too far and just pray that the weather stays as it is π
Aparna says
Fingers crossed! π
