Hi,
My name is Dinesh. I am interested to buy Maruti A-Star, with the good average. But the engine type should be either LPG/ Petrol or CNG/ Petrol. I will wait till the Maruti Suzuki company produces the model which i am looking for.

Dinesh

@Dipankar
A-STAR, I think so, i am not sure………. BUT I’m sure for maruti swift LDI BIII – disel, this is best car to buy.
Mandy says
its 1.0 ltr engine and 68 BHP so that it will surly deliver almost 18-19 kmpl as another cars also giving the same milage…but it is on highway and depends on driving condition. City it will give you 16-17 Highway: 18-19… driving is not so comfy as its dash board is quite high….you will not be able to view the clear view of indian road…where as indian roads are smaller and too many curve…think before going for A-STAR….. go for i10… or check for another option like Chevy SPARK 1.0 LS
Mandy says
Those have small budget then thay can go for A-Star but they will have to buy basic model.. space is not there in A-STAR if you compair with any small car…only + point in A-STAR is milage..event you will get option in chevy SPARK with is vaule for money…just visit delear and findout why SPARK is better than A-STAR
Mandy says
A-Star is valu for money….and there is not compair between i10 & A-Star…i 10 is best.
Dinesh varak says
i 10 is bullshit,go for A-Star is best.other wise buy secand hand car?
Gaurav says
does A-star ….have a company built lpg..system

I am owning A Star since last one and half months.
Very responsive, smooth drive, the maruti staff is very courtious.
It is very decent looking, full of new features not availabe in small cars. I feel it is similiar to Swift minus the size and price.

@Dipankar
I haven’t test driven i10 and hence i wouldn’t be able to comment on it. Sorry 🙁

which is better for a small family of hilly area, i10 or Astar?

@Dipankar
For people below 5’8″ I think the driving comfort would be just okay. But certainly not for people taller than that limit. Don’t expect much from a hatch back wrt boot space. It is certainly better than 800. Ideal for city drive for a small family of 4 people.
Dipankar says
which is better…Astar or i10?
Dinesh varak says
Buddy if you want to buy car in between i10 or A-star, so my best opinion for you at free cost buy latest model Maruti A-Star.this car was good powar,good maliage.camfort,saftey,etc. try to don,t buy Hundai car product and tata car product. wish you all the best dear.
Dipankar says
May I know the driving comfort of Astar. Is it suitable for a short driver? How is the dicky size..is it ok for a small family or just like 800 ?
Mohan says
@Kishore
That is nice to know. Please share if you have experienced any drawbacks as well. That will help others as well to get the perfect picture.

Thanks for the info. 18kmpl on roads is really a great stuff. But the question is whether that mileage is on city roads on highways. Any thoughts on the driving comfort?

All in all I would say that if anybody is thinking about Alto and feels that he or she is comfortable with the Alto then he or she should really go for the A-Star. It’s fun, it’s zippy and it’s a very appropriate upgradation of the Alto, but don’t expect too much from space perspective.

Maruti has always done well on front seat space & that is what really matters, rear is for children, so less space is not a big drawback. Also as the car is meant to be used for inner City runabouts, small boot could suffice.One can’t actually ask for more refinement from a 3pot motor! But ride & handling package seems sorted out.
Maruti has tall claims on FE which need to be asscertained & would probably be the deciding factor.
Any idea about deliveries/waiting period?
Rajendra says
Maruti showroom is just nearby, so just walked over to have a look of the new baby!
Things that struck me- good legroom for the front seats, seating position is low, steering adjustment is needed, central consol is high. I did not feel comfortable behind the wheel. Though this was just a short stint, did not take the car for a TD as lot of crowd was gathering to have a go.
Booking started today, whole amount is being asked to be deposited & delivery would take 10-12 days.

Your review was good. Short, to the point, and keeping the readers attention rivetted to the very salient details, that he requires. Expansive reviews are really boring, as the average reader, or, to put it this way, all readers are not technical personnel. You could have given us a couple of additional pics of the car, looking from the rear!!
The front end looks very i10 ish!! Anyways, good job done by Suzuki.
Keep those reviews coming…..

Was eagerly awaiting for the car to be launched, and when i had a look at the car in the showroom, i felt that this was gonna be a car that I would buy, looked good from the exterior and i had high expectations, but the moment i opened the front door of the car, i realized that maruti have screwed up on the interior part again……….. I’m 5ft 11″ tall and I had to push the driver seat to the maximum extent to seat my self in the vehicle, the steering is a bit low and I felt that they could have done with tilt\adjustable steering, the passenger seated behind the driver will definitely have a hard time..looks like maruti might have to hire some personnel from hyundai to get the interiors right. There is a waiting period of 6 months. the car wasn’t even available for a test drive. the boot space in the car is very minimal. This car is a big no-no for people who are as tall or taller than me. To summarize my first experience with the A-Star, the car looks good, has a fresh feeling, however, the interior spacing (legroom)suck big time…Got fed up with the Maruti A-Star, went to a Hyundai Showroom in the evening, had a test drive in the i10 and I must say that I was very pleased with its handling and the minimal cabin noise and the interiors of the i10. Booked an i10 1.2 Kappa Magna, gonna get my new car in a couple of weeks…For all the people who had very high expectations about the A-Star, the car (Vxi at 4.41 lacs on road price bangalore) is still a pretty good deal, but, u might still wanna have a look at the i10 before deciding on the buy. The i10 is a tad expensive than the A-Star, but, I’d rather pay 25-30K more for an i10 rather than buying a Vxi A-Star…
Chandan says
At first instance this seemed like a wonderful car and a true replacement for the origibal zen (which I have owned for about 7.5 years now). But I am still to see the car in real and now I am worried it might leave me dissapointed. The pricing looked correct to me coz I was expecting a better job from Maruti. Obviously for this job the pricing shud be a somewhat more competitive.
David says
It sucks as compared to its concept design. I was very excited about A-star since i saw it concept design. But looking at the real design , it looks like a modified i10. I am very disappointed. Concept design was so good and futuristic.
Sudheer S says
I really doubt if it can give a mileage of 19.6 kmpl. Can some one comment on what is the mileage of this A-star maruti on indian roads?
Kishore says
Maruti has again come up with a really good car but i would like to see more pics…………I am still confused between i10 and A-star
Ved Prakash says
Hi, What is expected date of launch in Bangalore and range of model and price. Can it be booked now ?
Khaleel says
I was at the launch ceremony. Maruti A-Star will rock indian auto market. I assume that it will live upto its punch line of “Stop @ Nothing”.
Sudhir Vashishtha says
Since bringing revolution of Maruti 800, it has taken decades for Maruti Suzuki to realise that looks do matter, where as Hyundai did not much lose time in improving looks of their cars. No matter what A-Star may offer, but personnally, I did not like Maruti Suzuki, the Market Leader, imitating i-10.
Mohan says
Sanjay, I will certainly blog on my test drive review. Maruti A-star was launched only yesterday and it will take sometime to reach show rooms across the country. So you may have to wait for some more days.
I am glad that you liked my review on Indica Vista. Keep visiting back for more!
Sanjay Nair says
Hi Mohan,
Have you test driven the A Star? If so, please share your experience, driving comfort and all other aspects like you did it for Tata Indica Vista.
Thanks
