Can you imagine a modern hi-fi office without air conditioners? Well, this is a common scenario in many of the renowed offices in Bangalore atleast for today… Courtesy frequent cut in electricity supply and shortage of diesel in the petrol pumps. For past month or so the hydro electric power generation has hit the low levels due to inadequate monsoon rains. Otherside of the story has been that due to to skyrocketed prices of crude oil. That is evident from the fact that many of the petrol pumps have been shut due to non availability of stock.
Keeping it all aside let me come back to the main story. Software development office premises usually have a cool atomosphere because of their huge centralized Air Conditioning systems. The same is the case with our office too. All of a sudden this AC is shutdown and by the time we starts wondering why the temparature is increasing, a mail pops out of mail box saying that the AC has been switched off to strike a balance between conserving energy and utilizing the available energy for running mission critical appliances. Though the AC was switched off for about 3 hours, it was hard for us to work in such humid condition… Can’t believe what is going on but that is the reality. Of all the crazy things.. one suchthought was on a day with no availability of crude oil all over the world… heights? let me stop here for the time being.

Well, just the other day i was Vellore it HOT very HOT and HUMID but people there were comfortable except a few ones like me who are used to the AC. I guess we need to be more tolerant to such changes as the situation asks for it. But what we need to writing about must be about the shortage of Fuel and less rains that has caused a slump in power production which is a way bigger problem than an AC being shut down for two or three hours. But again i think about it, its all connected… So if talking about the AC is going to make people stand up and take notice, thats exactly what we need to talk about.. Good going 🙂

may be they can switch of in intervals- say for 30 mins after every 2 hours, instead of switching it off for full 3 hours at a stretch…
