Though I have been using my good old Sony Ericsson k750i for over 2.5 years, I am still enjoying this studiest master piece. However, the time has come to change this due to the growing needs of social networking and blog features via mobiles. Also the arrival of 3G in India is something that keeps me reminding of a switch over to high end mobiles. Put down the free 3G sim offer by BSNL as I have been a loyal Airtel customer all these years. Anyways, the auctioning of 3G spectrum in India has begun and soon we will see a good number of service providers competing with cut throat prices which will help the end user!
Since the changing mobile thought was haunting me , decided to compare some of the prominent models that offer the features I was looking for. Visited UniverCell stores near KR Road, Bangalore over the weekend and the below mentioned models were something I had in mind. It is something to do with the Indian mentality that we wish to see the product, hold it in hand and feel it before buying. Though I couldn’t get a functional mobile set to try hands on, I was offered to go through their website to compare various mobiles. Β The site was indeed pretty informative on the technical details as well as the price and the EMI options towards payment. I’m impressed by the comparison feature on their site along with online shopping offerings. I personally feel that it will take a while for us to get used to online shopping.
So, here are the 3 mobiles that grabbed my attention and detailed info to some extent. If you need more details, feel free to compare on UniverCell site.

Not all the features I was looking were available in any of these models. Sony Ericsson Vivaz came close but it didn’t have qwerty keyboard and also the built in memory options. So, I think I will live with my k750i for some more time and hopefully in due course of time more mobiles will be out in the market with enhanced features at affordable prices.

i love SONYERICSSONs. They are much better in performance and quality, especially the camera and sound than others. A little letdown is the joysticks. Don’t worry, just go for navigation key models.
Mohan says
True.. even I have become a fan of sonyericsson after using the current mobile for past 30 odd months! Thanks for your suggestion.
Saravanan says
Use this site. It has loads of information for GSM phones, you can compare multiple phones company-wise!

Saravanan.
Mohan says
Thanks for pointing to gsmarena Saravanan! it seem to be a nice site for comparison and lot of reviews for each of the model. The only missing option out there is price in INR. Nevertheless great site for mobile reviews.
Shruti says

Shyam says
Mohan, E63 is good and has all the features including 3G in affordable price 9.5K . I recently bought E63 in a nokia showroom and i was lucky to have bluetooth headset free (worth of 1999/=) along with the kit. The mobile will fit in the packet.
I am not sure whether the bluetooth offer is still there or not. some shops are selling this mobile for 8000/= without bluetooth and with bluetooth it comes around 9500/=
Mohan says
Thanks for the info Shyam! I haven’t looked at E63. Let me explore. Thanks for the suggestion and the price details.
Shruti says
my husband has a E63 . very good model for that price! slightly bulky though.
Mohan says
Thanks for your input Shruti!
shruti says
Yes, sony ericcson come close…But My fren recently bought this Nokia N97 and she is very happy with it, prefers the NOKIA thing!!! Blackberry might be BIG, but its great matching the features you need..
Hey BIG is beautiful and Dignified π
Mohan says
Well, i am aware of the Blackberry but somehow I am still not convinced with its size π N97 doesn’t have RSS reader π

Mohan says
I know man.. enjoy your iPhone 3GS.
Shrinidhi Hande says
You are comparing 1 14k phone with 2 22k ones, which are not in the same price range…
Did you consider blackberry?
Mohan says
Shrinidhi, the normal price of Samsung I7500 Galaxy is 28,990. Looks like UniverCell is running a promo to sell this particular model at a discounted price. The same costs Rs 24480/- (discounted price on Sangeetha)! BlackBerry is a good option, but I don’t like the width size… i feel it is too big to fit into a pocket π
Shrinidhi Hande says
ok…
