As promised before in one of the earlier posts on the occasion of republic day, here I am sharing all those exquisite photos from Leh & Ladakh regions. These photos have been sourced from my cousin who works with Indian Army. All these photos have been captured using a mobile phone camera! If you wish to see these pictures bigger, head over to flickr or see this slide show in full screen mode.
An ordinary civilian has no access to these regions. Even if you want to visit these places, the mother nature will not let you pollute the premises! Some interesting facts from these photos include the amount of snow that falls overnight is good enough to completely submerge the post tents. One of the daily task for these men is to remove the snow around and above tents periodically. The food and other supply reaches these posts only by means of a chopper. You can see few images of a chopper dropping the supplies via parachutes as it may not be possible to land all the time.
Also, I was surprised to see some of the solar products that were showcased on my blog sometime back being used in such extreme climate conditions too!

Ohh !! what an amazing collection… thanks a lot for sharing these flicks. Just remembered the beauty and harshness of nature when I was stuck somewhere in snow while going to Roopkund glacier. Salute to Indain Army for holding the post in such weather conditions.

Mohan,
The pictures are good.. No questions on that.. But did you realize that these pictures in the enemy hands could pose a risk to our Country?
You mentioned that they were taken by your cousin from our Army. If these pics are seen by the Enemy, they can know our terrain better and can be a danger. Think about it.
Regards
Hari

Raghav says
Mohan sir, really nice pics…enthralling, i myself had been to ladakh but these r amazing pics…Sir, u r elder to me and with all due respect I would like to point out one thing i didn’t like was the line in the intro para….(in the inverted ones) ‘my cousin who “works with” Indian Army’…According to me Army is the most respected profession of the country and cannot be termed as a job…
I hope iam not offending u in any way, pls do tell me if iam wrong. I think ‘in the army’ could have been a better proposition…
Mohan says
Dear Raghav, thanks for your comment. I fail to understand how ‘works with’ degrades the morale. I would be glad to learn from you if the language I have used is inferior. Would you mind throwing more lights on this? Btw., I am not at all offended with your comment π
Raghav says
Sir, first of all m grateful that I didn’t offend u…
actually I didn’t mean to say degrading the morale, obviously it doesn’t, what I just meant was Army cannot be termed as a job..
For instance : “He WORKS WITH INFOSYS”…here it is appropriate,
but I think for Army it should be “He IS IN THE ARMY” rather than “works with Army”…Iam a lot younger to you and I can be wrong, if u think what m saying is not the correct expression, please do tell me, shall be my endeavour to learn from u..
Mohan says
Thanks for the clarification Raghav. Well, since I’m too associated with the corporate world, I used those words. Looks like now I need to go in search of grammar nazis!
Raghav says
mohan bhai…. its not that, and its ur greatness that still u acknowledged it, just that I’m learning frm u…
