There are a number of reasons to share this photo today! I clicked this photo just a few moments ago, this is to mark the beginning of a Telugu/Kannada new year day called Ugadi. Tree in this photo is in front of our house having a new bunch of flowers budding out to signify the beginning of the month ‘Chaitra’. On a personal note, this new season denotes a major change to my blog. I have moved to a new webhost now for better, more details to follow in next post.
Significance of Purple: (If you are unaware)
- Purple is the royal color and is symbolic to luxury and sophistication.
- According to color theory the purple color in children’s room can help improve their imagination.
- Leonardo Da Vinci believed the power of meditation increases when done in violet or purple light (light of stained glass).
It may also be noted that purple is derived from the mixing of a strong warm and strong cool color, it has both warm and cool properties. Purple is royalty. A mysterious color, purple is associated with both nobility and spirituality. The opposites of hot red and cool blue combine to create this intriguing color.
Happy Ugadi to one and all. Wishing you all for a great ‘purple’ year ahead.
Happy Ugadi to you too.

Thanks for the nice explanation. I think Ugadi not only marks new year in Kannada/Telugu calendars but it is actually a new year for all of the Hindus who follow the Vikrami Samvat.
Right… many people celebrate today as a new year day but they all term it with different names.
