What can be more relaxing on a monday morning than spending time at a golf resort to cool off the hard working brains? Yes! today we spent a day at Eagleton Golf Village in the outskirts of Bangalore as a part of our regular team outings. If you are an avid golfer or is interested in golf, this place has a lot to offer. We reached the place around 9:30 in the morning since we had opted for a day out package. Locating this golf resort is no difficult task. Just head in the Mysore road towards Mysore and surpass Kengeri. You will be able to spot Wonderla to the right before deviating towards Eagleton to the left. From that intersection, another 3kms of journey on mysore road leads you to Innovative film city.
The day out package included the morning breakfast, lunch buffet, evening tea/snacks as well as access to many indoor games and swimming pool. Wondering about why the hell i am talking about all these common stuff when the name has ‘Golf’ in it? Well, you can rent the golfing gear and head on to enjoy the game with a driving range and putting/chipping too at extra price! Indoor games include Squash, Billiards, Badminton, Ping Pong (TT) etc., while Tennis, Volley Ball, Cricket etc., make up for out door activities if golfing doesn’t interest you much. Upon arriving into the resort premises, the very first thing that you notice is a huge eagle landing on top of a golf ball. Nice landscape they have in front of the reception entrance. Once you start walking in, there is a wooden craft of Lord Krishna. It drew my attention as it was huge piece at the center and that is the very first noticeable thing upon entering the main hall. The wooden carving with polished finishing is a great treat for art lovers for sure!
Breakfast was the very first thing we were guided towards. Though I had my breakfast already at home, accompanied my colleagues. There was a good range of items to pick from menu for breakfast. Food was good along with grape/water mellon juices! There were HR folks instead of an event manager to keep us busy with various games aimed at team building. The conference halls are huge and well managed. We had a good amount of fun knowing the new members from various teams including a new Yahoo! who just joined us today!!! Isn’t that a great way to start first day at a new company? Till lunch we were busy with games in the outdoors under tree shades on a bright sunny day. Lunch buffet was OK kinds, neither too good or bad for both veggies and non-veggies. The restaurant has a very good spread of continental & indian food which is moderately tasty and the dessert spread is varied to suit to everyone’s palate. The best part was desserts for sure, with a mix of cakes, mousse, pastry, choco-fountain, ice creams and indian sweets.
After lunch we headed for exploring the venue. I made a visit to the golf store and found the golfing gear collection to be good, just that they were heavily priced! They don’t even let you walk through the golf fields/tracks. If at all you want to roam around, you need to hire a Buggy(golfing) cart which costs about Rs 400/- for 3+1. May be that Eagleton is awarded with 1st Runner up prize in the category of ‘The Best Golf venue’, but not letting people to walk through was a big turn off for me! Spent a good amount of time playing Squash and Badminton… it is fun to play when you have a huge group of people with you! With only one exception, no one ventured into the ‘Multi level Designer swimming pool’ as it was looking really dirty! There wasn’t any water in the upper level at all, this may be due to the fact that it is a weekday, more over a Monday!!!
Headed for snacks at 5pm, we were served tea/coffee with some cookies as well as the good old water mellon/grape/pineapple juice. Got freshen up and had some chit chatting with the group and then headed back to the very routine concrete jungle! To sum it up, this resort is ideal for golfers with arrangements for training to select from various packages. I didn’t get to explore the rooms and all, so I can’t comment on that. Also, I do not recommend this resort for a ‘memorable’ honeymoon or a romantic getaway or families with kids/teenagers. There isn’t much to explore beyond the main enclave unless you are a golfing freak! Oh yeah… there is a Kingfisher Swing – Lounge Bar and spa too! The best enjoyment can only be realized when camped with huge group of 30+ heads. Ideal place for any corporate off-sites, training programs etc.,
Hi Mohan.. What is the current status of the place? Are the sports, Golf facilities still good? Does the place have Mini-golf?
There is a very well maintained Golf course, not sure about the mini golf.
This village looks really nice. If I got a chance to go their. I will definitely go.
me too… I will make it during one of the weekends with family and let me see how good I am at golfing. Nice post mohan! I liked the pic of lord krishna very much.
Hey Mohan, again a good post from you. You describe things so well, we can imagine ourselves going through it. Nice pics.
Thanks sapna! Better you too give life to your idle blog… you will pick up that knack as well 🙂
I am an amateur golfer and I found this place to be really nice. Also, it is economically most viable for budding golfers like me!
i know for sure why you like Eagleton so much now 🙂
my wife and her team had gone there while at blore. from the photos it seems she had enjoyed the time there!
yeah.. there are a number of things that a group can do.. true, they have a great landscape!
I went there once as a part of office outing, didn’t really enjoy much there. I feel we can enjoy very much the same at any other place too… no need to go that far. I too think the same that eagleton is good only for golfers not for regular resort goers.
I feel going there for regular outing is not a good idea as the name itself says it is a ‘Golf’ arena!
Nicely written. Also the choice of pics are very good! I missed out on the Squash and Badminton I think…
Hi Angshuman, yes.. you missed it for sure! hope to see you in the next quarter outing group 🙂
Crisp and interesting
Was one of our usual weekend getaways in Bangalore with family – some 20 of us used to go there and have a lot of fun 🙂 I love the place 🙂
Never been there as part of a team outing 😛
Exactly opposite here! never went there with family 😉 Somehow, i m not convinced enough to take family out there!

My best half had been there a few times… part of office get togethers.
Have been to this one.. I didn’t enjoy the day though (Nothing exceptional to do here). Maybe cos I don`t play golf.
Liked the place though- very green.
This was my 3rd visit to Eagleton ;). I can very clearly see the sporting facilities getting degraded over years except golf.
Nicely pictured the whole trip in a single article. Keep up the good work Mohan 🙂
Hey.. Thanks sid!
I had two outing here with Infy mates..Loved it, every time I got to play from morning till sunset….As you say, its good for team outing’s…
U guys planned it on Monday? thats really cool…never got this oppurtunity, except for weekend 🙁
Yes! we planned it for a Monday to break the routine jinx 🙂
